This geetar ain’t my hero

The Guitar Hero franchise has become a cultural phenomenon, making many appearances in popular culture.

The games have become extremely popular as party games and hobbies. The series has sold over 21 million units, earning over US$1 billion.

I’ve tried playing it once. Sad, sad, sad to say the least. My fingers are not nimble. My ears are not tuned. Even the slowest speed stumped me. So no Guitar Hero for me that’s for sure.

The Thinking Blog gave a quick HMmmm and thought such a popular game is bound to have some clones.

Well, in fact The Thinking Blog found 14 of them!

Their choice was Frets on Fire — it’s simply the most advanced; It has a built-in song editor that allows editing and creating songs, it works on Windows, Mac, and Linux - last but not least - it’s open source.

Flash on-line and downloadable Guitar Hero clones — check them out at The Thinking Blog.

I’m actually a Rock Band player. This is way better than Guitar Hero.

Drums, Bass, Mic, and guitar. Maybe you should try out the drums. :P
