A decidedly colourful wedding

Chi and Tara's colourful wedding on 8.8.08. Tara's friend Deana sang a beautiful a capella song at the end of the ceremony. Apologies to my American friends, but in Canada we spell colourful this way.

This week’s theme is COLOURFUL.

Gone are the days of the “white wedding.” In are the days of the “colourful” wedding.

My friend’s daughter Tara married her fiance Chi Wai last weekend on the eighth day of the eighth month of 2008.

As you can see, the bride wore bright green — Tara’s favourite colour. It was a lovely day with the ceremony on the deck of her parent’s summer place in Sechelt, BC.

Here’s the pat on my back — I made the bamboo wedding arch. I had intended to do the flower swag on the arch but at the last moment thought better of my skills and time. My friend John, who is a florist, came all the way to Sechelt just to do the arch swag and an orchid centrepiece.

Green and white but with a range of colours within that simple palette.

How lucky they were to have such a beautiful place to be wed and the arch is just lovely
I think white is boring - color is wonderful. White is the virgin color - who’s a virgin today when they get married???
Super photo - love the colors!
    Happy weekend

    Hi Larry,

It seems like wedding nowadays are becoming nontraditional. White gowns are gone!

For the bride and grooms - its not a sin not wearing white gowns or black tuxedos during weddings. You just have to follow what you want or your own personal choice, its your wedding and its a one time event (sometimes). So choose what you want!

Here in Philippines, weddings are becoming more nontraditional as time pass by. Based on our experience as a Tagaytay Wedding Caterer, we have seen lots of ceremonies in a unique way.

Good to see the bright colors!!! The traditional white and off white is not all it’s cracked up to be! Let’s move into this century and see more wedding designs with color!

As a wedding photographer it is just so refreshing to a bride in a bright and non traditional colour! I see very few no white/ivory dresses but the the few I do see look fantastic on the brides and make for beautiful and unique photographs.

Personally, I would like to see more weddings with the gorgeous colors like your photo. I can imagine different colors for every location, although, it’s tough to beat the one in the photo. That is one lucky couple!

I think that the bride and groom should have it their way, if that includes colors great. It is their special day and they should do what ever they want, in my opinion. In my line of work, I make wedding favors, I always stress to the brides, they should do what they want, not just because they think it is the right thing to do.

As a photographer who shoots weddings in black and white , it’s quite easy to justify as everyone is wearing black and white! However I’m hoping this doesn’t become a trend.

The greens look superb, I suppose I could use Fuji colour film for that. Lovely wedding!

  9. Sarah - Cheap Wedding Dresses Says:

I love it. That green dress is just stunning on her. I chose to go the traditional route and wear white for my own wedding, but I think it’s great that people are bucking the trend. It’s meant to be a once in a lifetime event, and is a day that is all about the happy couple and what they want. So whatever makes them both happy is definitely the way to go.

That’s a fantastic color dress! I got married in May this year and wore teal. It looked absolutely beautiful (even if i do say so myself) and I had so many admiring comments. It was also MUCH cheaper than a traditional wedding dress.

You made a nice job of the bamboo flower arch, as well.
