So you get to the age when putting candles on a birthday cake gets to be too dangerous. And who wants to buy extra fire extinguishers anyway?
The solution? Sparklers — just two of them instead of a pile of candles on my friend Faye’s birthday cake last month.
Yikes, wouldn’t you know it — the sparklers got her anyway. The saving grace was I feared if we put candles on the cake, she’d walk away with singed eyebrows.
A little smart sting on the hand and blisters isn’t as bad as no eyebrows. By the way, Faye’s emotional yelp didn’t contain one four-letter word at all. Aren’t birthdays fun!
