Twisted strands of hair
This week’s theme is TWIST(ED). The bronze woman sits on her dolphin twisting her hair as water shoots up from the centre of the fountain at regular intervals. The fountain sits in Place Massena in Nice, France. Both the plaza and the fountain sit atop a river that runs undergound the city of Nice.
I’m always amazed at the detail these artists achieve, especially when working with bronze which will then sit in water for who knows how long?
But enough about her. Let’s get back to me. Here I am sitting on the edge of the fountain enjoying looking at the Cote d’Azur which really is very blue.
Here’s a couple more photos of sculpture in Florence, Italy. The man and woman with the screwed on fig leaves stand on each side of the replica of the statue of David.
Make sure to click on the photos to enlarge them and see how “twisted” the sculptor has chiseled their lower limbs.

G’day Larry!!! I love the mermaid fountain…but with my twisted mind you really don’t want me commenting on the other two sculpture. I’ll leave with a sense of dignity today.
Happy weekend.

I seriously love stuff like this. Wouldn’t mind traveling the world to see as much as possible, either.
You know, though, what I really like about that second pic is your tee shirt! ROCKIN!

Hi Larry. That’s a lovely sculpture. I always appreciate the skill and hard work done by sculptors in making their pieces.
Interesting replicas of the statue of David. The screw on leaves makes it quite amusing.
