This week’s theme is TWIST(ED). The bronze woman sits on her dolphin twisting her hair as water shoots up from the centre of the fountain at regular intervals. The fountain sits in Place Massena in Nice, France. Both the plaza and the fountain sit atop a river that runs undergound the city of Nice.

I’m always amazed at the detail these artists achieve, especially when working with bronze which will then sit in water for who knows how long?

But enough about her. Let’s get back to me. Here I am sitting on the edge of the fountain enjoying looking at the Cote d’Azur which really is very blue.

Here I sit beside the bronze fountain lady taking in the blue ocean of the Cote d'Azur in Nice, France last October.

Here’s a couple more photos of sculpture in Florence, Italy. The man and woman with the screwed on fig leaves stand on each side of the replica of the statue of David.

Make sure to click on the photos to enlarge them and see how “twisted” the sculptor has chiseled their lower limbs.

Many of the classical statues in Florence were de-sexed at one time. It seems that men's private parts were whacked off and a hole bored into the pubic area to attach these fig leaves. Yikes, the dreaded weenie-whack.

Hi Larry. That’s a lovely sculpture. I always appreciate the skill and hard work done by sculptors in making their pieces.

Interesting replicas of the statue of David. The screw on leaves makes it quite amusing.
