It may be faux but it’s fine for me
This week’s theme is GLASS.
I couldn’t resist buying this “faux” stained-glass copy of one of Picasso’s cubist period paintings of his lover, Dora Maar.
I was having some prints re-framed and noticed a stack of posters on sale in the framing store. “On Sale” is like a red flag to me. The posters were all fairly common and not that much interesting.
But at the back of the pile was this piece of “stained glass”. I didn’t have my reading glasses with me and pshawed at the $1,119 price tag.
Squinting and taking a closer look, I realized it was priced at just $119. What to do? What a dilemma. Did I really need another piece of art — and something that looked like stained glass to boot?
The clerk said that someone had made the piece and brought it in for framing. But despite numerous calls for two years, the guy hadn’t picked it up. So there it sat in the sale pile of posters. My wallet was twitching so on impulse I bought it.
When I got the picture home, I tried every window and wall in my place. It just didn’t fit anywhere. Now I was really angry with myself for such an impulse purchase even if it was only $119.
It didn’t hang around my place very long. My neighbour took one look at it and declared it was hers. It’s hanging in the window of her foyer and looks magnificent.
I guess this piece of glass knew where it wanted to go and I was just there to facilitate its placement. The bonus to all of this was my neighbour paid me more than the $119 I had dished out for it!

My ‘glass’ is shared, I sure hope you can find time to drop by for a visit if you haven’t already.

That’s a fairly cool piece of art, but the story that accompanies it is the coolest!
Have a great weekend.

That’s one of the most unusual stained glass pieces of art I have seen! I am glad you got a good return on your investment.

So everyone ended up happy - that’s the kind of story I like to hear.
I’ve not been doing much visiting recently, so I’m sorry I haven’t been around. I’m hoping to get back to normal now.

Great blog. I liked the theme. Nice photo. The stained glass work by Picasso is awesome. Good to know that you got a fair deal with this one.
