Mice skip across canned goods
The other day a friend of mine laughed at me when I vigorously washed the dog food can top before I opened it with my freshly washed can opener.

Surprised at this unexpected remark, I said, “Doesn’t everyone wash the lids on all canned food?’
Apparently not was his reply. Let’s get serious folks. What makes you think you can take a can of soup, plunge your can opener into the top without washing the top of the can first?
Think about it. Who knows how long that can has sat in some warehouse? How many little tiny mice feet have stumbled across those stacks of canned goods? Yikes, think of the big rat feet that might have skipped across the tin in your hand right now.
I’ll continue to thoroughly clean the top of my canned goods before I open them, even the dog food cans.

OMG, I thought I was the only other person besides my mother to do this. It just makes sense.

I never thought of it that way. Will remind myself to wash them next time.
