To fold or to roll when packing a suitcase

I hate bloggers who apologize for not blogging. So hate me because I’m blogging about not blogging. Ironic huh?

Just wanted to let those inquiring minds know why. I am flying off to Paris next week and then on to a chateau in Avignon, Provence, a jaunt to Nice, Monte Carlo and then on to Italy where we’re staying in Firenze (Florence to us). From Florence, we’ll do a few day trips to other places in Tuscany.

Can you say excited? I am, I am.

The real irony is that every place we have booked as internet access. I have struggled with whether or not to take my notebook. Today, it is a no. Tomorrow, who knows.

A fellow traveller and I debated the merits of folding vs. rolling clothing to pack.

I subscribe to well respected travel expert Rick Steves’ packing philosophy. He says, “The measure of a good traveler is how light he/she travels.”

Having said that, I do put out everything I “think” I might need several days before I travel. Then I edit, and edit and edit until I finally put away that fourth pair of jeans I’ll never wear and the twentieth tee-shirt I think I might just wear sometime.

Are you a folder or a roller or combo-folder/roller to pack your clothes in your suitcase?

You should already know my answer to folding vs. rolling. Here’s a refresher if you forgot.

Have a great trip, and take lots of video and pictures.
You may want to leave your notebook home, them things get lost/stolen easily.

There’s a lot of internet cafes out there.

Now, that is too, too funny! I’ll never fold my clothes again without thinking about that clip.

Readers, check out MacBro’s link in the comment above.

Compare it to this this clip.

Who would have thought folding clothes could be such an art or that MacBros’ mastered it so quickly!

I tend to be a roller. When we went to Spain I managed to roll all the clothes I needed to fit in my carry-on. My checked baggage was practically empty as I saved the room for shopping purchases.

I bring a retractable clothes line with me as I plan on doing a wash while away. That way I can travel quite light and if I forgot anything (like a pair of dressy shoes or outfit) I have a valid excuse for shopping. (grin)

    have a great time Larry!
If you have a light weight lap top - take it.
If you’re allowed lots of baggage - take it.
If you plan on buying lots of things - don’t take it!

but have fun - no matter what!
    See ya
    Happy weekend
