Beam me up
What’s new with me?
Not a heck of a lot. Haven’t been posting much as I’ve been busy tending to the yard and cleaning out the garden shed. Geesh, who’d have thought I’d be doing anything like that?
I’ve gone up to Whistler a few times and each time I keep visualizing “my house” on the hill and dream.
I’ve started the countdown to my trip to France and Italy: one month to the day as of this post! (The ticker below should reflect the number of days until my flight departs — so don’t be alarmed if you read this post later and find I’ve already been and come back. Oh those space time anomalies are all around me I think.)
I tried to restrain myself but I caved in and purchased a Tom Tom Go 910 GPS system.
It’s a slick little thing but it takes some getting used to it. The more destinations and points of interest you program into the device, the easier it is to use. My first GPS route was to Whistler. I detoured from my programmed route and stopped in West Vancouver at the Park Royal Shopping Centre.
My Tom Tom knew exactly where I was and kept giving me extremely accurate directions to get back onto my scheduled route. It’s a bit spooky thinking that satellites are pin-pointing my location and directing me. But such is life in the 21st century.
The main reason I bought this model is that it came preloaded with maps of North America and Europe. Other GPS devices in the same price range preload North America maps. If these other GPS systems use other maps (downloaded or on memory cards), it seems the extra maps were about $200 USD which made those systems too expensive for my liking.
Will let you know how I fare with my Tom Tom Go 910 after I return from France and Italy next month.

I have a TomTom One as well. It’s so useful that I sometimes wonder how I survived without it.

I know TomTom from friends and it works pretty good. But I was disapointed with their support. I ask a question of importence to me before buying it, hmmm about 4 month ago, and didn´t reseve an answer up today
No I have a other one…. But a nice tool for the car - anyway
