Photo Theme: TWO.

This is a postcard I found recently. The artwork are two porcelain plates made by my friend Jerry McBride way back in 1988. She did an entire series of faces on plates which were very successful.

This Saturday’s theme is TWO. I found this post card at a junk store in a barrel full of postcards. The postcards were all in mint condition. The clerk said the entire lot had come from the dark recesses of some printer’s storeroom and were sold as an entire lot to the art junk store.

In the entire barrel of postcards, this was the only unique one. The image hit me smack dab in the face. At first I couldn’t figure out why the image should be so familiar. When I turned over the postcard, the printing read:

Geisha Wish: Porcelain.
46 cm. X 33 cm. and 44 cm. X 25 cm.
1988
Jerry McBride
Terra Cotta Gallery

Jerry McBride is a local artist who I know through friends. She did an entire series of porcelain plates with male and female faces like the ones in this photo. We had purchased one of the plates way back in 1988 but somehow it got passed along.

It was kind of a weird experience to chance upon this postcard after all these years. The serendipity of finding this lone postcard of two pieces of artwork was exactly right for this week’s theme.

I love it when photos have “a story” , especially when connected to the photographer in some way.

I am sorry, I seemed to have missed a couple of your entries. You found those at an ART JUNK store? Didn’t know they had such a store, let alone it be somebody’s art.
I was looking for Melanie on here, didn’t find it to check out your fondant cake. I honestly don’t know why anyone would want a cake with fondant on it anyways,…… have you tasted it? It definitely lacks TASTE! lol. Going to check out your other entry on “row”. Have a great week.
