This Saturday’s theme is TINY.
It’s been pouring buckets the last two days here in Vancouver. My water lettuce in my patio pond has literally taken over.
As it was so wet I couldn’t do anything in the garden except kill slugs, I went shopping and found these tiny silver orbs. At only a loonie each, I picked up a dozen and plunked them right into the centres of the water lettuce plants.
The reflection on these tiny silver orbs is particularly interesting at night with the garden lights on. Here’s a few more shots of these tiny floating orbs in my pond.

Oh Sure! Encourage the mosquitoes to lay eggs in that standing water. It’s not like we don’t have enough this year.
Kiddin’ but it looks nice.

Those are pretty. Are you able to eat water lettuce?
The rain here stopped yesterday. We may have a save on our summer. Hopefully.

I’ll have you know that I use an organic pesticide in the water to kill the mosquitoes DEAD. I’m allergic to mosquito bites and swell up like a Star Trek alien with huge welts wherever I’m bitten — usually on the top of my head where I always forget to put repellent. Sad story but it’s true.

don’t think you can eat them — they are actually quite an invasive water plant and will strangle out everything else — that’s why I keep them in the bowl/pond rather than the larger pond in the garden which has water lilies and other aquatic plants.

Sorry about all the rain there. Think we all got our share of some of it, although others got more. Sure hope your plants are back to normal. Thanks for sharing and have a great week. (Well, without a few days of rain at least.)

Hey Larry…that’s a good idea to beautify the pond. I would want to imagine how beautiful it would be with some spotlights on them. Great shots this week. Wishing you a calm, happy and lovely week! http://crizlai.blogspot.com/2007/07/photo-hunters-tiny.html
P/s: still busy slug-busting as always? Good Luck then. See ya around dude!
