Avignon and Siena will be home this fall
I’ve left a hint or two of my fall trip to France and Italy mainly to see if anyone reads beyond a few words in my posts. By cracky, don’t you know there are some die-hard visitors who do read my posts.
So here’s the broad outline of the travel plans
I’ll be away from late September until late October. I’ve booked my cheap return flight on ZOOM airlines.
I’d never heard of them but apparently they are a reputable charter company just starting to fly out of Vancouver. My $650 CND return ticket will whisk my direct from Vancouver to Paris (Charles de Gaulle airport) and return.
Upon arrival in Paris, I’ll take a three hour train ride to Provence and the city of Avignon, France.
I’ll join 10 other friends who will also be there. We’ve rented a chateau — just a French word for “country or manor” house — for a couple of weeks.
Here’s a few pictures of the rented chateau we’ll be staying at:
Then we’ll rent a car and drive to the Tuscany region of Italy and base ourselves in Siena where we’ve also rented a Villa (just an Italian word for a house).
We’ll visit Florence, Milan and Venice — at least that’s the plan so far.
Am I excited? Can you say croissant and ciao three times in a row without getting tingles? Oh, you’re not going so I guess it’s just me getting those tingles!
Stay tuned for updates.

[IMG larry-hnetka-thumb] Larry Hnetka is going places. Passport clutched to his chest, he plans to takeFrance and Italyby storm. With his charm, he will probably return with a couple of French maids & a secret recipe for pasta sauce.

I loved Siena! I hope to get back there during the Palio(sp?) horse race in the main square. Please make sure you have gelato every day!
