A bookshelf that falls into place

So how bored are you today? Up for a handyman’s woodworking challenge?

I found these plans to build a Tetris DVD (or book) shelf.

And then I remembered, I’ve already build a similar bookshelf — just not with all the fancy woodworking!

My woodworking creation is pictured below. Click on the photo for a larger view of my version of the Tetris bookshelf.

I actually made this bookshelf unit myself from a design I found in the newspaper. A little like the Tetris shelf, I configured it to be used as a room divider too.

I’d advise you to take a look at the Tetris bookshelf tutorial though rather than try to figure out how I build my bookshelf. The tutorial gives you tips and hints which I obviously can’t provide in such detail.

If you’ve got the courage to attempt to build the Tetris bookshelf, you’ll have one heck of a conversation piece as well as a place to display your prized book collection.

One time on Trading Spaces Hildie (Hildy?) designed and built a book shelf kind of like this. I actually used to o.d. on that show when Kelly was between 1 and 2.

When did you build your shelf? It looks amazing.

ya, I know what you mean about the Canadian passport mess. I have a Green Card but maintain my Cdn citizenship. passport’s expired but hoping I can zip to the embassy in Dallas to get me a shiny new one. Whatever. It’s all good.

Jealous about about the France / Italy jaunt.

    Goood night.

I still O.D. on Trading Spaces — although I must admit Hildie was not my favourite. The bookshelf was a project about 3 years ago. I use it as a divider in my bedroom right now. I’ve kept fall trip low profile but now that plans are falling into place, I can assure you there will likely be many a post about the pre-travel, the travel, and post-travel here on my blog!
