But will it match my sofa colour?

I’ve written before about the Vancouver Sculpture Biennale.

The exhibition is coming to a close and two major sculptures will be purchased to permanently remain in the City of Vancouver (subject to funds and benefactors).

The chosen pieces will be based on the “People’s Choice” and the “Curators’ Choice”.

Get your People’s Choice vote in before March 1, 2007 by filling in the voting form on the Vancouver Sculpture Biennale website.

I’ve always been supportive of more art in public spaces in Vancouver. Art that challenges you to think about form and its relation to an urban setting.

It’s one of the reasons Paris is perhaps my favourite city to visit. It seems that every street, every lampost, and yes, even the original Metro signs visually delight me.

That’s not to say that I “understand” or even like all 3-dimensional art works.

The Biennale has brought several sculptures that amaze me with their beauty. Others make me shake my head and think, “what the hell is that?” And still a few just make me laugh.

Let’s not even get into Oko Ono’s billboard “art.”

For more photos of the sculptures, there is a Flickr Group for you to check out.
