Culture crawl hits 10

The East Side Culture Crawl officially began in 1997 with 45 artists in 3 Strathcona area studio buildings and was attended by a few hundred people. This year will mark its 10th anniversary!

The Crawl will take place from November 24 to 26 this year.

This painting by Jerry Whitehead is the first prize in a special fundraising raffle this year.

It involves artists who live in Vancouver’s Eastside in an area bounded by Main St., 1st Ave., Commercial Drive, and the Waterfront.

Painters, jewellers, sculptors, furniture makers, musicians, weavers, potters, writers, printmakers, photographers, glassblowers; from emerging artists to those of international fame . . . these are just a sampling of the exciting talents featured during this unique chance to meet local artists in their studios.

What I particularly like about this event is the opportunity to browse through the studios where these artists work and live. You can talk to them about specific art work, materials, approaches and techniques. You can purchase artwork, commission work or just hang out and learn about the creative process from those who do.

This exciting and free event brings people from all over the Lower Mainland, to share in the imaginations of those who enrich our neighbourhood and lives.
