Cake, coke, shakerados! Who Wants?

Versace immediately brings to my mind extravagant excess, Medusa heads and a senseless murder.

Ever wonder how Donatella Versace might spend her summer?

Ariel Levy lets us peek at the roots of Donatella’s bleach blond locks in his New York Magazine article.

According to Levy, during the heydays of the 80s, Donatella’s catch phrase was “cake, coke, shakerados! Who Wants?” How wonderfully concise that phrase captures that era.

Of course, Donatella has gone through rehab and although she used to be happy in her brother Gianni’s shadow, she is now proving herself to be a powerful force in the fashion industry all on her own.

Gianni Versace left 50% of the business to Donatella’s daughter, Allegra. By doing so, it has forced Donatella to work extremely diligently to keep the company’s fortunes alive and well so that when her daughter inherits it, the legend will continue.

Take a few moments and read the entire New York Magazine article HERE. It’s full of interesting tidbits and gossip about the legendary Versace clan.

About those shakerados — I learned they are espresso and ice and sugar and vanilla shaken and poured into dazzling crystal goblets that sweat in the heat — that is if one is being served a shakerado by Donatella Versace.

Getting your Christmas shopping list together already? Here’s two items to consider — a limited edition Versace Nokia cell phone and of course, a limited edition Versace Cabriolet.

Who could want anything more? Well, maybe one or two shakerados in dazzling crystal goblets might do.
