A melt-down kind of day
It’s been a melt-down kind of day today.
You know the type? Everything just didn’t click. The Burrard Street Bridge traffic was backed up to 4th Avenue making me 20 minutes late for my doctor’s appointment. He wasn’t pleased about that.
Backing up my day though, my housemate needed a prescription from his doctor who practices in the same clinic as my doctor. Knowing I had an appointment, my housemate called the doctor’s office, confused the receptionist and changed my 2:30 pm appointment to 11:30 am. The 11:30 am appointment I had was with a specialist — an appointment that took two months to get.
I was totally pissed off. Yet, once again, it was my fault. I had miscommunicated. I wasn’t clear that I had two appointments today. I was wrong; he was right.
And then the traffic was backed up on the Burrard Street Bridge because of the multi-million dollar bicycle lane upgrade the city has been doing for the last three months.
The final heat for my meltdown was in my drive coming from my doctor appointment. I glanced in my rear view mirror and saw the car speeding up behind me driving in the newly opened bicycle lane! A lane not even half the width of a regular driving lane. In the lane to the left of me for some reason was clear of cars. The car in the bicycle lane forced me to straddle the two driving lanes.
And then he had the nerve to honk and give me the finger as he sped past me.
That was my melt-down and I’m pissed kind of day I had today.
