Her name is Laura . . .

The Eyes of Laura, the Yahoo weblog pick for August 20, 2005, opens with a woman saying:
My name is Laura. I’m tall with reddish-blond hair. I’ve lived in Vancouver for 10 years working as a security guard. I’m waiting for something to happen in my life.
Hold on to your keyboard. This weblog is creepy. Make that double-creepy/disturbing.
What you see through Laura’s eyes is Vancouver as if through surveillance cameras. And who are the “Sexy Lady” and “The Inspector”? Laura, you scare me.
The weblog self-narrates as the post is typed before you in a text box. There are controllable web cams mounted at various Vancouver locations including the Courthouse and the intersection of Robson and Howe. The zoom function is fine enough I could easily see the pedestrians in the crosswalk.
Laura is waiting for something to happen in her life.
Unfortunately Laura, you’ll have to take that journey yourself. I’m not returning to your weblog any time soon. No apologies, whatever your objective, it just creeps me out.
