The Art of Chapeaugraphy dates back to the 1750’s and was first created as a performance art piece by a French comedian named Tabarin.
Based on the French word ‘chapeaux’ for hat, the art involves taking a ring of heavy felt and twisting and shaping it into a series of different hat designs. The art has been relegated to just a handful of performance artists . . . until now.
