Dadaism in AmericA
Greetings! My name is J. D. Nelson. I am a Space-Cowboy Poet, Bizarrist Writer and Xenographer.
So begins the author info about J.D. Nelson in the on-line publication DADA Yow! - Dadaism in a AmericA
Nelson notes his work is influenced a great deal by the Automatic Writing1 of the Surrealists and the Spontaneous Prose2 techniques of Jack Kerouac. The collages of the Dadaists3 and cut-ups of William S. Burroughs4 are also influences.
J. D. Nelson lives, writes and wrangles in Colorful Colorado, USA. His work has appeared in many print and online publications, including The Best of the Dream People Poets chapbook.
Having dredged up some old poetry of mine, I look at the words I’ve written on those yellowed pages and ask myself “Just what was I thinking when I wrote this stuff?”
It pleases me to read Nelson’s work. Simple imagery, layered meanings, colourful twists of phrase — the written word has not been forgotten and keeps evolving through writers like Nelson.
Here is one of three Nelson poems published in DADA Yow!
