Irises are in bloom today
April 22, 2005 and Nana’s tall, bearded irises started to bloom today!
That’s always a sign that spring in Vancouver is well underway and summer is not far behind.
These irises grew in Nana MacDonald’s yard for over 60 years. When Nana sold her house in Burnaby, Bob rescued the iris bulbs and many other heritage plants living in his grandmother’s yard.
The iris bulbs lived for a time in White Rock with Matilda until they took up permanent residence here in Kitsilano about six years ago.
