Publisher tries to muscle domain name owner to give up her web site name

Saturday, July 31st, 2004

Katie registered her domain name, katie.com in 1996. Now a publisher is trying to muscle her into giving up the domain name for one of their authors who titled her book katie.com.
It’s the 21st century kids. You would think an author and her publisher would check such a basic thing as a book title before […]

Maybe because it is Pride Weekend in Vancouver?

Friday, July 30th, 2004

In quickly running searches on GLBTTQ, I stumbled upon an interesting encyclopedia.
It is full of all things queer, or transgenered, or bisexual, or lesbian, or gay. Take a boo and see what you think.
Paul Monette wrote some very moving non-fiction and fiction.
The encyclopedia list the following celebrity birthdays for July (the shout out all capital […]

Rate your level of homophobia

Friday, July 30th, 2004

Just how homophobic do you think you are? Fill out the questionnaire here.
For my interest, what label under the GLBTTQ acronym would you paste on your forehead? Don’t know what the initials G L B T T Q represent. Check out yesterday’s post.
Acronyms make me go HMmmm.
What grammatical part of […]

Blue, blue, blue

Thursday, July 29th, 2004

How blue is blue? Pretty blue when I’m blue.
Hard to describe this blueness but some say it is like being in a pit and you can’t see the top of the pit nor can you see the sunlight.
Never felt that pit thing for a long time.
But I know that the colours around me are tinged […]

How to make my web site annoying

Building Really Annoying Websites
How did I know these annoyed people? And held up the time to access your site!
My fav’s:

text in the body scrolling painfully slow;
background colour change or incessent blinking;
text, clock or sparkles attached to the mouse trails.

HMmmm, maybe I’ll just add the fireworks to the mouse click.

GLBTTQ: I learn something new every day

Wednesday, July 28th, 2004

So I thought the new age chatter was challenging. I just read the Pride issue of Extra West
EGALE, the largest national GLBTTQ organisation (sic), invites film makers to submit their scripts for videos capturing the realities of intersecting oppressions.
I was just getting used to the acronym GLBT and now they throw GLBTTQ into the […]

Wednesday, July 28th, 2004

My friend Diane Collis made news today in the letters section of the Vancouver Sun. The topic of her letter to the editor: the joys of canning!
Diane works with the Vancouver Community Kitchen. If you like hearty recipes, you’ll find them on this site.
So where […]

Elsa Corsi: Vancouver jeweller to the stars

Monday, July 26th, 2004

.
Elsa Corsi, Vancouver’s jeweller to the stars, has several of her pieces dangling from Halle Berry’s ears and stuck on Sharon Stone’s fingers in the Vancouver-shot blockbuster film, Catwoman.
Another article I read, suggested Halle Berry must have had to roll her eyes and grit her teeth to actually purr-rrrr her lines in the film […]

Happy bird-day to you Dianne

Monday, July 26th, 2004

I have been weepy today on Dianne’s birthday after her death.
